SAGE Neurology was founded in 2022 to reflect the increasing expertise in the UCSF Department of Neurology in providing sex- and gender-informed clinical care and to galvanize ongoing clinical, educational and research efforts

Our Mission
- Deepening and expanding the expertise of our clinicians in women's and SAGE neurology
- Providing neurological care that is informed by a person’s reproductive goals and experiences, hormonal transitions and treatments, and the gendered role they play in society
- Facilitating access to interprofessional care for our patients to optimally manage their condition during periods of change (adolescence, pregnancy, menopause, gender affirming transition)
- Profiling and advancing research on sex- and gender-related aspects of neurology, such as women’s health and care during hormonal transitions, pregnancy, menopause, and beyond
